If you are visiting Tohoku, Yamadera must be on the top of your list! Aside from being one of the most sacred buddhist temples in the whole Japan, It carries the legacy of Matsuo Basho by being the site of his inspiration for his very famous Haiku:
Utter Silence / Piercing The Stone Walls | The Cicada’s Cry
